Create a Sharepoint 2013 Master Page based on Seattle.master with VS 2012 / VS2013
1. Create a new project:
2. Configure as a Sandbox (or as a Farm) Solution:
3. Add a new Module to your project:
4. Download a copy of Seattle.master:
5. Add the copy to your module, rename to CustomMaster.master, and Change your elements.xml file to point to _catalogs\masterpage folder:
6. Change your masterpage, to include a welcome message:
7. Deploy your solution and change your Site master page:
8. Verify that it shows your welcome message:
